Jim DeMint Supports Jim Pratt in 6th Congressional District

The establishment said our principled candidates were “extreme” and would certainly lose the general election to more “mainstream” Democrats. You see, these insiders are convinced that Americans are liberal at heart and would never vote for someone who believes in limited government.
They are wrong, again. In fact, in poll after poll, conservatives are surging.
I cannot describe the magnitude of the impact we will have in the fight to save freedom if people like Jim Pratt are elected in November. Jim has demonstrated a deep commitment to the principles of freedom that have made America great and has demonstrated a willingness to stand up to his own party when it’s necessary.
For the first time in almost 18 years the political climate is such that Jim Pratt can defeat Clyburn, but, we MUST fight until the very end.
Many of you have contributed generously to our candidates, and it has made all the difference. Today, I’m writing to ask you to support Jim Pratt so he has the resources to reach the patriots across South Carolinas 6th District. If we’re going to overcome the special interests and the liberal media, we need to grow our team and put real muscle behind our candidates.
The Washington establishment wants Jim Pratt to fail and to be honest, it wants me to fail. I have upset a lot of people by supporting underdog, anti-establishment candidates. The Beltway insiders would like nothing more than to see our candidates lose so they can blame me for Republican electoral losses. They want to continue to promote the lie that conservatives can only win in certain states.
The defeat of Jim Clyburn would create an earthquake election that renews constitutional principles and restores America’s greatness.
Please join me in supporting Jim Pratt for Congress to assure that America and South Carolinas 6th District are restored to greatness.
Thank you for your support. We’ll keep fighting.
Respectfully,
Jim DeMint
Why we miss Bush: Straight shooter vs. ‘yuppie’ O

Various polls report that George W. Bush in some states is now better liked than President Obama. Even some liberal pundits call for Bush to weigh in on the Ground Zero mosque or the Arizona anti-immigration legislation.
Suddenly, Bush is missed. Why? Let me list 10 likely reasons.
Victor Davis Hanson wrote the list, and it’s a pretty good one. Click on the link if only to see a great photo of Bush in a cowboy hat. Then try to imagine O in a cowboy hat (but put down that coffee first).
One of the points on the list is, “[Bush] was authentic,” and Hanson goes on to give his explanation. It’s probably the most important characteristic setting Bush well apart from Obama. I would have added Bush and Laura turning up unheralded at homecomings and hospitals. Both O and Michelle have attempted to link themselves with respect and caring for the troops but they have failed miserably, pathetically and disgustingly. Absolutely–the lack of authenticity is going to be the major character flaw which has defined Obama and will continue to do so.
I have a feeling Bush is biding his time until the general election in 2012 and I have another feeling that tells me the Dems know this. Another two years with That Man and That Woman in the White House (with or without a landslide defeat for Dems this November) will have George Bush looking like St. George by comparison–and he’ll kill the dragon by supporting conservative candidates. You won’t see candidates scurrying to leave town when Bush arrives!
St. George is very much connected with the Crusades, even though he was long dead by then. The original apocryphal legend, surfacing around the 600s, says that the princess whose life he saved was from Libya. But it was under the red cross of St. George, representing honor, valor, courage and Christianity, that the Crusaders from England and Western Europe set forth to do battle with Muslims in the Holy Land. (And didn’t George use the word “Crusade” once or twice?)
Don’t get me wrong–I’m not saying we should venerate Bush as a saint. Just that we need someone who represents authentic America to vanquish the modern-day dragon whose very breath poisons those within its reach.
Is “Kalifornia” Doomed?

“Broke—and Building the Most Expensive School in U.S. History” shouts the headline of this Wall Street Journal article.
This is the best recent example I’ve seen of what happens when idiots are entrusted to spend “other peoples’ money”. This is a microcosm of what we get with the US Congress. Stimulus program anyone?
“Set to open Sept. 13, the school boasts an auditorium whose starry ceiling and garish entrance are modeled after the old Cocoanut Grove nightclub and a library whose round, vaulted ceilings and cavernous center resemble the ballroom where Kennedy made his last speech. It also includes the original Cocoanut Grove canopy around which the rest of the school was built. “It wasn’t cheap, but it was saved,” says Thomas Rubin, a consultant for the district’s bond oversight committee, which oversees the $20 billion of bonds that taxpayers approved for school construction in recent years.”
Oh-my-gosh! Is it any wonder that California is in deep financial doo-doo? Who are the morons that make these decisions, and why are they in positions of responsibility? Hel-l-l-l-l-oooooo!?
“Mr. Rubin admits that the Roybal Center project was “a tremendous screw-up” that “should have been studied closer beforehand.” The project was abandoned for several years, only to be recommenced when community activists demanded that the school be built at whatever cost necessary in order to show respect for the neighborhood’s Latino children…,”
Um, that’s cool. So, let me see if I got this right…..showing respect means building a Taj Mahal school that won’t make one whit of difference in the quality of education the kids get. There’ll still be teachers that can’t teach, kids that think it is cooler to be a gang banger than to get good grades and graduate, and parents that view schools as a free babysitting service. I can’t help but wonder, how many of these “Latino children” are anchor babies, whose parents are illegals? Well, by all means, lets show ‘em some respect!
“The Roybal center now ranks in the bottom third of schools with similar demographics on state tests, while Belmont High ranks in the top third. But even though many Roybal kids can’t read or do math, at least they have a dance studio with cushioned maple floors and a kitchen with a restaurant-quality pizza oven.”
Well, at least these kids will finally have a fancy new palette on which to ply their gangsta graffiti artwork.
“Los Angeles voters have approved over $20 billion of bonds since 1997 and state voters have chipped in another $4.4 billion of matching funds. Roughly a third of the cost of the Kennedy complex will be shouldered by state taxpayers.”
Now I’m beginning to understand the problem. Let me try this: Voters, who don’t have to be tax payers, nor have to possess an iota of intelligence, can vote to approve taxpayer supported funds. Right? Then, since 47% of people pay ZERO federal income taxes, it probably follows that at least that proportion of Californians pay ZERO state income taxes. So, they don’t have any “skin in the game”, but they still get to vote in favor of largess that the rest of the tax paying folks are billed for . This makes perfect sense. If, that is, you’re a member of the parasite class.
Dancing with the Czars

The ever dazzling Michelle Obama has invited dancers from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to the White House. The joint venture between the White House and the Alvin Ailey dancers will kick off on September 7th and will feature ballet, contemporary, hip-hop and other forms of dance.
Rahm “Twinkletoes” Emanuel is busy at the barre practicing for his debut in the Black Swan pas de deux from Swan Lake with Mrs. Obama. In a nod to diversity and the First Lady’s fabulously toned arms, Mr. Emanuel will dance the role of the swan. Cass Sunstein will be on standby to ensure that the swan is not exploited in any way.
Tim Geithner will perform a modern dance interpretation with Paul Volcker in which they incorporate a challenging sequence of twists and contortions to illustrate how tax increases will boost the economy.
A hip-hop update of the classic ballet, “Echo and Narcissus” will be performed by POTUS and FLOTUS. There is no final word as to who will dance which role.

‘Bush … Come Back, Bush, Come Back’

Victor Davis Hanson writes in this piece for PajamasMedia and draws stark contrasts between George W. Bush, with his personal flaws and bad decisions made while in office, with President All-Hat-and-No-Cattle Obama. This is a nostalgic trip back to the days when we could depend on a president to do what he says he will do, even if it was sometimes ill advised, and a First Lady that was inspiring and apolitical.
I long ago stopped believing that GWB was a true conservative. But Oh! how I long for a president like Bush, an imperfect but genuine man, an unapologetic patriot that put the best interests of our nation above all else, a devoutly religious man who cast no doubt as to his true character and beliefs.
I hope we soon can settle on a truly conservative candidate that can return our country, beginning January 20, 2013, to the dignity, honor, respect and prosperity that the world has come to expect of the United States of America.
Rare footage of London in the Blitz found in attic

This is not exactly Tea Party related news but please look anyway. “Previously unseen color footage of London during the Blitz has been discovered after lying in an attic for almost 70 years. ”
It was when I was watching the nurses care for wounded people (second clip) that I choked up. I knew many bomb sites, like the one where they were shown working–they were my playgrounds when I was a little girl. The nurses were so calm and efficient, going about their work as if they did it every day–which, of course, they did.
I don’t know that Britain has any able-bodied people like this any more. I think they’ve all emigrated to places like Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US. There just can’t be anyone left like these women, and the firemen and other emergency workers too, otherwise the country wouldn’t be in as poor a shape as it is. Look how strong and resolute they all are as they march!
In the first clip, there are Boy Scouts and Girl Guides (Scouts) shown marching in review along with sailors, soldiers, nurses and so on, and I can promise you those Girl Guides were not learning how to sing kumbaya! The badges we worked for in the early 1950s, which were sewn on uniforms exactly like those shown in the footage, were still based on WWII needs and we learned how to tie all manner of knots, how to administer first aid, make a camp fire, put out fires, and so on. Good practical stuff!
The third clip is basically a training film and the viewer is at once struck by the archaic gas and incendiary training. There are many people in suits and a plump, middle-aged woman in a skirt and sweater, crawling on her belly to reach a phosphorus fire!

Democrats Plan Political Triage to Retain House

The liberals are in scramble mode, folks, and we need to do everything we can to keep ‘em in fumble formation!
From this article …..”To hold the line against Republicans, the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, issued an urgent plea for members in safe districts to help their endangered colleagues by contributing money. She called out to Democrats who were delinquent on paying their party dues and instructed members with no re-election worries to tap into a combined $218 million from their campaign accounts to help save their majority.”
…..”While several Democratic candidates have more money in the bank than their rivals, Democrats fear that outside Republican advocacy groups will step in and fill the gap. They are watching to see if interest groups and other constituencies increase their donations to Republicans in the hopes of winning access and influence should the House change hands.”
I wonder if they consider the hundreds of Tea Parties and other Patriot organizations as “interest groups and other constituencies”? D’ya think?
In our own SC, two very long term liberal congressmen need to be booted out:
John Spratt, SC 5 (opposed by Mick Mulvaney, web site here) and
James Clyburn, SC 6 (opposed by Jim Pratt, web site here)
As Macman says so well, Tea Partiers and all conservatives need to actively support these excellent candidates, by volunteering to work on their campaigns, b) donating cash to help them get their message out, or c) (preferably) both. And talking with your friends, getting them to vote in November.
Let’s force the liberals to waste millions of $ to try and prop these two people up. We can win both of these important seats and (as a side show) contribute to liberal losses elsewhere!
South Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District

When I read the front page article in today’s Post and Courier and looked at the map it looked eerily like another map I has seen recently. I soon realized the similar map was that of the South Carolina 6th Congressional District. Take a look at the two maps.
________________________________________________________________
This is the Post & Courier Map of Recession
This is the 6th Congressional District Map
I believe a little history lesson will help explain why the two maps overlap so well. The 6th Congressional District of South Carolina is a congressional district in central South Carolina. It includes all of Bamberg, Clarendon, Colleton, Marion and Williamsburg counties and parts of Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Lee, Orangeburg, Richland and Sumter counties. The district was gerrymandered in the early 1990s from a deal by Republicans and black Democrats in the South Carolina General Assembly to ensure a majority black population.
During the 1992 election the incumbent Robin Tallon opted to retire, and five black candidates ran for the Democratic nomination for the seat in the overwhelmingly Democratic district. Clyburn secured 55% of the vote in the primary, eliminating the need for an expected run-off. As expected, he won the general election in November. He has been reelected nine times, never facing a serious or well-funded challenger. Clyburn has had 18 years to improve the plight of his constituents. Instead he has only improved himself and his family with cushy government jobs. He follows the Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi model that keeps the poor from improving by telling them government will take care of them because they are not capable of doing it on their own. As long as the 6th District follows these policies they will always be known as the corridor of shame.
We need to impose a voter mandated term limit for Jim Clyburn. If he has made no improvements in eighteen years why should we believe he will be different in the future? It is time the voters in the 6th District stand up and elects someone that will focus on the true needs of the district. Someone that will work to improve the educational system, improve infrastructure, implement job training programs and then attract industry to utilize the better prepared workforce. That man is Jim Pratt. Jim will only win the November election if enough people get behind his campaign and get involved so please work for his campaign. The 6th District deserves to get more of the thrill of victory and less of the agony of defeat.

We can learn from the Joe Miller victory

The Joe Miller victory in Alaska is one more example of what an underfunded group with commitment can do. Although this group spent $600,000 to support Miller, this was small change compared to what the Murkowski’s campaign raised and spent. The Tea Party Express is building momentum and has made it evident they can sway an election. Of course getting Sarah Palin behind Mr. Miller was also a major contributing factor.
Now, I hope they will lend a hand in the South Carolina 6th Congressional District race pitting Jim Pratt against the House Majority Whip, Jim Clyburn. If they play a major role in defeating Clyburn it would send shock waves throughout America.
Obama’s Burden of Being So Bright

Sorry, but I can’t allow Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ statement that “we have a lot of re-education to do” slip by without comment. It’s amusing when avowed leftists don’t even recognize the Marxist buzzwords they’re sputtering.
When I first saw the word “re-education” in connection with what is a blatant attempt to brainwash, obfuscate and otherwise baffle us with BS on the subject of health “care,” my mind immediately flashed to the mid-80s when I was an English language volunteer to a group of Vietnamese boat people. One was a former business owner, another a teacher, A woman was the widow of a wealthy bus manufacturer who had been killed in the war; there was a fisherman and an attractive lady I was sure had a colorful past (!), and they had all been “re-educated” in a prison camp.
One day the teacher noticed one of our cats washing his face. He pointed and said “In Vietnam, cat washing face says rain.” The next week I said to him, “It didn’t rain!” He replied, “Ah, but it rain in Vietnam!” The whole room laughed but nobody more than the teacher. He explained it was the first time he had been able to make a joke in English–and his tears were not so much of laughter as relief in his discovery he could be himself in another language and country.
How dare this horrible woman tell us we peasants need to be re-educated? It certainly didn’t work for this brave man who went from honored teacher to auto repair shop helper, knowing and accepting he could never make it as a Vietnamese history teacher in the U.S. That man, who withstood all the North Vietnamese forced on his mind and body, was a million times more honorable than this, this ugly-hearted, sick little dictator named Sebelius.
Like Limbaugh, who wrote this piece, and no doubt hundreds of thousands of others around the country, I associate the word “re-education” with the communist North Vietnamese, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, Mao Tse Tung’s China, the Soviet Union and all those other regimes known by the term “brutal dictatorship.”
Limbaugh sums it up in a completely understandable way:
With this administration, what we’re seeing is not just an arrogant contempt for the cognitive ability and will of the American people but also a cynical determination to manipulate its will through indoctrination, selective suppression of speech, and trickery.
Limbaugh wraps up his article with a paragraph that should make chills run up your spine (not your leg):
I truly hope people understand that Kathleen Sebelius’ comment was neither offhanded nor out of line with the administration’s MO; it was right in line with the administration’s Orwellian approach to top-down, autocratic governance.
And I should add that the boat people accepted their new lower class situation with great dignity, attended every lesson at my house without fail, and brought me little gifts as thank-yous. Of course, honor is something the Obama administration doesn’t understand. No doubt they would read of my experience and think those refugees simply hadn’t had the proper re-education.
