PATRIOTS BE AWARE THAT SEATING WILL BE LIMITED!

As you all know the Tea Party movement has expanded since last year so we cannot expect the same considerations to be as readily available this year. Our traveling agency has informed us that that the demand for buses this year is tremendous, therefore it is impossible for them to “hold” buses for us as they did last year. SO YOU MUST BOOK EARLY in order to secure a seat and a room for the

Come join Glenn, Sarah Palin, Jo Dee Messina, Marcus Luttrell, and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. on August 28, 2010 for the Restoring Honor Rally. This non-political, non-partisan event will recognize our First Amendment rights and honor the service members who fight to protect those freedoms.  And rumor has it that Ted Nugent is firing up his guitar for a special rendition of the Star Spangled Banner!”

IMPORTANT UPDATED INFORMATION

Our friends at  will be sending off all patriots in style. They have graciously arranged to be at both departure locations/times to send us off in style. Thank you WSC for your southern hospitality!!

In preparation for the Restoring Honor Rally in DC, we wanted to give you some information to make the trip run more smoothly for everyone. The main change is the dropoff location (in blue) once in D.C.

  • All passengers will need to sign a Waiver and Release of Liability before boarding buses in Charleston. They will be provided in advance via email and will be also be available for download from our website. We will have extras at the departure site, but we can move more quickly if you bring the completed waiver with you or fax it to us ahead of time.
  • If you are riding an “Extended Stay Bus”, you will depart Charleston at 7:00 am on Friday, August 27th from the parking lot of the Walmart at 4920 Centre Pointe Dr, North Charleston, SC 29418, near Tanger Outlet. Please arrive at the departure point by 6:00 am to ensure we are on the road by 7:00 am.

The bus will make some rest stops along the way and there will be one meal stop on the way to DC and one on the way back to Charleston. You may want to bring a small cooler with snacks and beverages. There are no power sources on the bus to charge phones and PDAs so please plan accordingly.

  • If you are riding a “Day Bus”, you will depart Charleston at 9:00 pm on Friday, August 27th from the parking lot of the Walmart at 4920 Centre Pointe Dr, North Charleston, SC 29418, near Tanger Outlet. Please arrive at the departure point by 8:00 pm to ensure we are on the road by 9:00 pm. There will be 4 buses loading (approximately 200 passengers) so it will take some time. The bus will make some rest stops along the way, but NO meal stops. One of the buses will stop in Santee and Florence to pick up passengers .

You may want to bring a small cooler with snacks and beverages. You will be allowed to leave personal items on the bus while you are attending the rally. When you arrive in DC at approximately 7:00 am, the driver will point out the departure site before dropping you off at a nearby McDonalds. It is a short walk from there to the Lincoln Memorial. The Day Buses will depart DC at approximately 6:00 pm on August 28th from Constitution Avenue and 17th Street. There are no power sources on the bus to charge phones and PDAs so please plan accordingly.

Because the Capitol Police are in charge of the street closures, the dropoff and pickup areas may change, therefore, listen for updates and keep your cell phones handy.

  • For the rally, we suggest you carry the following:

1) Water 2) Sunscreen 3) Government issued ID – you will need this to gain access to a Federal building and they typically have good restrooms 4) Umbrella to keep the sun away

  • While Glenn Beck has said that political signs aren’t his focus for the rally, we know people may choose to have them anyway. US Capitol Police have strict guidelines which we have taken from their website:

Signs, Banners and Placards: Signs, banners, and placards are permitted as a part of a permitted activity. All supports for these items must not exceed three quarters (¾) of an inch at their largest point, have dull ends, and made entirely of wood. There can be no nails, screws, or bolt-type fastening devices protruding from the wooden supports. These items may not be used to offer any item for sale, to solicit contributions or contain any form of advertising. Any display of signs, banners, placards, and related items is strictly prohibited inside all Capitol Buildings. We look forward to sharing this historic event with you! Charleston Tea Party

UPDATE: Mr & Mrs Bates are helping coordinate and manage the buses so may be contacting you to obtain your cell number. This will allow us to contact folks during the stay in D.C. as most will not have access to website updates. Thanks for your cooperation. We seek to serve you and do not anticipate any problems, but would prefer to be prepared just in case there would be a reason to contact the patriots.

Educate, empower and enable the people to fight for their country! We the people demand integrity and honor to be restored to America.

Thank you Miss Liberty! Let me see what I can come up with, count on me and a few friends at the minimum.

  2. Barbara Bates says:

Don’t forget to put some large plastic trash bags and gloves in your backpack to use to pick up trash that will be overflowing from the trash cans in Washington DC on August 28th. We want to have our Capitol looking better when we leave than it was when we arrived. I am so excited about this gathering of people that wants to restore honor in our country. We have work to do and each one of us is responsible to do our part to restore the honor. Keep our movement in your prayers.

  3. Alvin691 says:

Barbara, that is a great idea. I remember pictures of the Mall after the inaguration in ’08 and it looked terrible. We are better citizens than that. This is OUR capitol.

  4. Susan says:

The plan for the day buses…still gathering 8pm at the WalMart by Tanger? And departing at 9? Did I read somewhere there are no plug ins for chargers on the buses?

  5. joel morgan says:

when i try to open the release form page, all i get is a blank screen. can you help me with this before friday morning?

    thanks

  6. Charleston Tea Party says:

    Joel,

You may have to go to adobe.com and download the free reader. If not, there will be forms available at the departure for you to sign before boarding ;-)

  7. Barbara C says:

Can we get an update on the dropoff location for the buses in D.C.? The email we received says they’re going to drop off close to the monuments but everything on Glenn’s site says the police are not allowing this – we’ll be dropped at RFK. If that’s true, everyone needs a formal heads up because that’s quite a bit farther. Please clarify…

Thanks! Can’t wait for Friday – woohoo!!

  8. Tim says:

Does anyone know, with certainty, whether or not there are any seats left on the day trip buses?

  9. Charleston Tea Party says:

I’m sorry Tim, there are no seats left for the day bus.

  10. MissLiberty says:

Barbara C – our plan is still to drop off and pick up as stated on our website. Our travel agent is keeping on top of the situation and will revise as necessary. Street closings, etc. are in the hands of the Capitol police so we go by their info – there are backup plans so don’t worry!

  11. Chris says:

    Tim,
There is a gentleman named Winthrop Spofford in Summerville with a bus that has seats available. His phone number is 697-6798. He is waiting on your call.

  12. marygroce says:

Tim, I see you were wondering if there are anymore buses going to Wash D.C. There is a bus leaving summerville at Walmart Friday Evening at 8:30 or 9:00 Aug27th 2010 which has a few seats left. You can call Winthrop Stofford at (843) 697-6798 for information.

  13. marygroce says:

    i mean Spofford too

  14. Tim says:

Thanks for everyones suggestions. Someone else could not go at the last minute, so I am actually going to be taking her seat on the day trip bus. I work for a food distributor, so I just might have some little snack bags for everyone.
