A Different View

As I watched tonight’s debate, I am afraid I became so distracted, that I probably missed much of what was said. I made a couple of observations. One was that as I looked at the four candidates, I saw four dogs.

Santorum is the little schnauzer that nips at your heels. He’s annoying but no real threat. He seemed to spend the night explaining why you should not vote for Newt or Romney, rather than explaining why you should vote for him. He seemed exceedingly desperate.

Mitt Romney was the miniature pincher. They are cute dogs who think they are dobermans ….at least until someone gets to close. A lot of bark but no bite.

Ron Paul, once again was a beagle. They are a lovable breed. Always happy and taking everything in stride. The surprise was that he wasn’t his usual clumsy self. I used to have a beagle just like him. He chased one too many parked cars and spent most of his days walking into walls. But it was a different Paul tonight, that seemed to be very careful not to say anything stupid and it worked. I almost forgot the man is insane.

Then there was Newt. The pit bull. Not lovable, not well behaved, and not politically correct. He was bold and mean and met every challenge head on and made the meek back away.

But what if your house was violated? Who would you want guarding the things most precious to you? Well America, your house has been under attack for the past three years. Who will you pick to protect your liberty? Your health? Your prosperity?

I’m with Newt… good analogy … pit bull indeed. I’d probably have Mittens as a miniature poodle all hair do, no bite… I agree Ron Paul must have taken his Ritalin yesterday as he seemed to stay focused and not talk in circles so much… I’d choose a Basset Hound for him… bigger and slower than an energetic beagle… but basically similar. For Santorum is there a breed known for whining? I do LOVE terriers so I’m not sure a fine courageous terrier is the right breed for his performance last night… maybe a chihuahua instead.
