Although I am pleased that so many soldiers from Iraq are now home with their families, I can’t help but to wonder about the timing of this event.
The pull out from Iraq was precisely timed to allow our returning soldiers to come home right at the 30 day mark for registering to vote in their home precincts in the early primaries. These soldiers who were allowed to vote with an absentee ballot are now in a position that they cannot let their voices be heard in the primary elections. Granted, this will affect the states with the early primaries such asNew Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida but as a nation we need to make sure the soldiers understand that they MUST be registered in their home precincts 30 days prior to the election day.
As these returning soldiers are settling back into their homes and reuniting with their families, the last thing on their mind is registering to vote. It is almost a disgrace that there isn’t some sort of exception for these returning troops.
Please share this information with anyone you know in another state to insure that all soldier’s voices are heard.
As a volunteer with the Newt Gingrich campaign, I have fielded many phone calls from returning soldiers who have called to tell Speaker Gingrich of their support but unfortunately cannot support him at the polls on Saturday.

God Bless the troops for fighting so many wars for so long. I pray they can all come home soon.
South Carolina please support Ron Paul on January 21st so we can bring ALL of our troops home now.
