Entry requirements for mental health training courses.
Table of Contents
ToggleMost introductory/awareness level Mental Health Training Courses do not require any prior knowledge or experience of health/care and therefore most Courses have Open Entry.
Formal entry requirements may be set for an accredited learning programme, in accordance with national requirements. For example, a regulated qualification may have a minimum age requirement of 16 years for learners to participate in the learning program. The minimum age for staff or apprentices would need to be checked prior to booking.
Assessments are often written and issued as workbooks. If a delegate’s first language is not English, it would be wise to check with the provider what support is available and whether written assessments can be issued in alternative formats. Please note that some courses are designed for people with a background or experience of working in health and social care (or similar roles). We clearly state on the course description page whether a course is suitable for health and social care workers (or not).
Some courses may contain material that could cause distress to those with personal experiences of mental health problems. We will ask on application if any delegates have such experiences, and would always appreciate notification of any special requirements delegates may have.
If in doubt it is always a good idea to give the training provider a call to discuss any of the above prior to booking the place on the course.
