If you really want to see how a city or town looks and works you have to see it from above. In the case of London, there are plenty of High-rises and skyscrapers to do that from. From these heights, you can see the iconic old city laid out. It’s almost good enough to see the Roof sealant. Which are the best ones to do it from?

- The Shard. One of London’s newest, and already well-known buildings, The Shard is designed to gleam in the sun and catch its rays, literally like a shard of glass. There is a public restaurant and viewing platform where you can have a meal and look out over the city and pick out its landmarks. As the tallest building in the capital, it has to be the first choice. It is rather expensive, being on the 72nd floor. However Oblixs Bar is on the 32nd and is a lot cheaper, plus the views are still very impressive.

- Franks Cafe. It might sound a bit downmarket (plus its ontop of a multi-story car park) but this cafe is anything but. It’s located in Peckham and is good to be seen in hipsters bar and artist establishments.
- Another iconic building is the Gherkin. It has an interesting eatery called the Duck and Waffle, which is famously served. You can drop in anytime, it’s open twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. Great for nighttime and daytime views.
