ToggleThe most appropriate time to visit the Pyramids is the opening hours of the monuments, which is from 6:00 to 7:00 in the morning. In addition to the scorching sun, you will also be able to avoid the strong humidity, which is really annoying in these places. The ideal is, therefore, to choose to visit the Pyramids early in the morning. Remember to bring water, a snack and a hat with you. With the right precautions, the day of visiting the Pyramids will remain forever engraved in your heart.
The so-called Great Pyramid, also famous as the Pyramid of Cheops, is reached through a stone ledge about six to seven meters high. The advice is to reach it through one of the steep passages by which the pyramid is characterized. Obviously, we strongly advise against trying this experience without a tour guide who is able to accompany you. These steep passages will allow you to enter directly into the Burial Chamber: this is a completely empty room that has a monumental Sarcophagus in the center, belonging to the legendary figure of the mythical Khufu. You will be truly amazed in front of counted magnificence.
For those who want to visit the famous Sphinx, perhaps one of the most famous monuments in the world, the advice is to take a large paved road that opens next to the Pyramids and leads, in fact, up to the Sphinx. It is an artery that can be easily traveled on foot, with absolutely flat sections and which, in a few minutes, will lead you directly in front of the wonder of the Sphinx. Remember that in these places it is allowed to take photos and make movies. It is absolutely forbidden once you arrive in front of the Sphinx monument. Anyone who does not respect the ban on taking photos is punished by the local authorities with the confiscation of the vehicle and a very high fine. The visit to the Sphinx usually lasts about 30 minutes.
Another tip is to visit the nearby Solar Boat Museum. The structure is located to the right of the Sphinx. The museum contains the famous and elegant sailing vessel that belonged to Queen Cheops of Egypt. In addition, other precious maritime finds are also exhibited. For all tourists who are preparing to visit the museum, it is a must to wear protective shoes to avoid contaminating the precious finds. The shoes are provided by the staff who organize the guided tour inside the museum.
Finally, it should be remembered that, at the entrance to the Pyramids of Giza, there is no indication nor any signage that is able to indicate from which point and where to start your visit. Therefore, fundamental advice is to take precautions, bringing with you a map of the place, which is able to define and explain in great detail the entire itinerary to follow to visit the pyramids. In this way, you will also avoid having to resort (and therefore pay) the dozens of tourist guides and Bedouins who crowd at the entrance to the Pyramids and who will ask you to be “Cicero.”
